How does speech pathology work inside the childcare day?
Children build communication through hundreds of everyday moments: talking, listening, singing, sharing stories and playing with others.
Our qualified speech pathologists visit every week, at no extra cost for enrolled families. Working alongside our educators, they help support speech, language, understanding and social communication through practical, play-based strategies that become part of each child’s familiar day.
It is connected support in the environment where children already feel safe, known and ready to learn.

Everwood’s speech pathology service is delivered by qualified speech pathologists who work alongside our educators to support children’s speech, language, understanding and social communication.
Because support happens within the childcare day, practical strategies can be woven into familiar routines, play and relationships. Our educators can then carry those strategies through the week, in the everyday moments where children naturally communicate.
Support is shaped around each child and may include:

Speech pathology is one of the specialist services included at no extra cost for enrolled families, alongside our movement and development specialist, Brenda Beckley, nature-rich outdoor learning and teacher-led early education. Visit our mum-owned centre in Forrestdale, where families join us from Harrisdale, Piara Waters, Hilbert, Seville Grove, Haynes, Armadale, Southern River and Brookdale.

Does every child receive one-to-one speech therapy?
Not every child receives one-to-one speech therapy at Everwood, because support is shaped around each child. It may happen through everyday play, small-group experiences, practical strategies shared with educators or individual work where appropriate, and families are informed and involved before any focused individual assessment or intervention.
Does my child need a diagnosis or confirmed speech delay?
No, children do not need a diagnosis to benefit from specialist-informed communication support at Everwood. Our speech pathologists can support areas such as speech sounds, vocabulary, understanding language, expressing needs and ideas, turn-taking and confidence communicating with others.
Is the service suitable for every age group?
Yes, speech support is shaped to each child’s developmental stage and communication needs, so it is not a one-size-fits-all programme. Not every child will need the same type or level of involvement, and our speech pathologists and educators work together to decide what support is appropriate within each child’s everyday learning environment.
Does this replace private speech therapy?
Everwood’s speech pathology does not necessarily replace private speech therapy: it supports children within the familiar environment where they already play, learn and build relationships. Where a child may benefit from a formal assessment, written report or ongoing individual therapy, we will discuss this with your family and explain the recommended next steps.
