Qualified support for speech, language and communication
Everwood’s speech pathology service is delivered by qualified speech pathologists who work alongside our educators to support children’s speech, language, understanding and social communication.
Because support happens within the childcare day, practical strategies can be woven into familiar routines, play and relationships. Our educators can then carry those strategies through the week, in the everyday moments where children naturally communicate.
Support may include educator guidance, observation, small-group experiences and more focused support where appropriate. Our speech pathologists are onsite each week, and the service is included at no extra cost for enrolled families. Families are involved from the beginning whenever individual support is recommended.

Does every child receive one-to-one speech therapy?

Does my child need a diagnosis or confirmed speech delay?
No. Children do not need a diagnosis to benefit from specialist-informed communication support.
Our speech pathologists can support areas such as speech sounds, vocabulary, understanding language, expressing needs and ideas, turn-taking and confidence communicating with others.
Is the service suitable for every age group?
The type of support depends on each child’s developmental stage and communication needs. It is not a one-size-fits-all program, and not every child will need the same type or level of involvement.
Our speech pathologists and educators work together to determine what support is appropriate within each child’s everyday learning environment.
Does this replace private speech therapy?
Not necessarily. Everwood’s service supports children within the familiar environment where they already play, learn and build relationships.
Where a child may benefit from a formal assessment, written report or ongoing individual therapy, we will discuss this with the family and explain the recommended next steps.
How will I hear about my child’s support?
Relevant observations, practical strategies and next steps will be shared directly with your family.
Updates may be provided through conversations with your child’s educators, the speech pathology service and, where appropriate, through EarlyWorks.
